Custom Orthotics in London Ontario

Benefits of Custom Orthotics

Our feet act as the foundation for our whole body.  Any problems or dysfunction occurring at the foot can impact all the structures up the body's functional chain including: ankles, knees, hips, pelvis and lower back.

Custom orthotics and orthopedic shoes are similar to chiropractic care in the sense that it aims to correct the root cause of the problem rather than the symptoms. Having optimal gait/walking is like having well balanced and rotated tires on your car. If you leave the foot problems for too long and only correct the pain at the areas in the chain above (lower back, knee or hips), then the issues will continue to reoccur.

Custom orthotic insoles allow optimal function to your feet and gait so the rest of your joints and muscles can maintain their function and stay in balance.

Here are a few examples of who would benefit from custom orthotics and orthopedic shoes:

  • Working adults who stand and walk for extended periods of time including: nurses, factory workers, labourers, couriers and anyone who is constantly on the go or wearing safety footwear. Conditions such as low back pain, sciatica, hip pain and scoliosis can be alleviated or completely resolved with a pair of custom orthotics and orthopedic shoes.

  • Custom orthotics and orthopedics can be very beneficial for young athletes and athletes of any level. Whether you’re a professional athlete, weekend warrior or anything in between, custom orthotics can be crucial in improving performance and injury prevention. Foot and ankle issues including ankle sprains, plantar fasciitis (flat foot), tendinopathies and even shin splints are common in athletes with gait and foot dysfunction. Custom orthotics works to correct the root cause of these symptoms by giving the athlete a solid foundation from the ground up.

  • Elderly individuals and geriatrics can benefit significantly from custom orthotics and orthopedic shoes. Whether for relief of arthritis pain, diabetes, circulatory issues or bunions, custom orthotics can relieve the symptoms and prevent further aggravation of symptoms.

How do we custom build them to fit your feet?

Custom orthotics are made with each person’s condition and lifestyle in mind! No two orthotics will be identical because no two people are the same. Footmaxx patented Metascan technology is used to determine how you’re using your feet when walking. This pressure-sensitive device will measure the pressure of each foot as you walk and display them with detailed information and analysis to help us determine the exact problem and how to correct it. During your custom orthotics assessment visit, we will also perform a very thorough foot and lower body exam to determine your specific needs. Instead of the classic mold or foam box methods, we use the top of the line Footmaxx 3Dmaxx Laser Scanner to take a very accurate Laser 3D scan of your feet. This allows us to make perfect fitting custom orthotics right out of the box with no need for modifications. We will always follow up with you to make sure you are getting the most benefit from your orthotics!
