Chiropractic Care for Neck Pain & Headaches

Treating Neck and Headaches with Chiropractic Care

Neck pain and headaches are common conditions that are due to neck muscle and joint dysfunction often related to overuse. Neck pain typically results from injuries such as whiplash during car accidents and sports.  We also regularly see patients with neck pain due to overuse posture with computer and cell phone use.

There are many types of headaches, with migraines being the most well-known. Neck-related headaches are very common in the working population.  This is due to tightness in the muscles in the neck and the upper back which can cause pain on the top of the head, to the forehead, which can often mimic headaches.  Usually, due to poor posture and repetitive use, this headache can be consistent so long as the muscles in the neck remain tight.

A very common condition we see in our patients with neck pain and headaches is Upper Cross Syndrome. This is a muscular imbalance due to overuse of certain muscles and weakness of others which leads to an imbalance in the neck, thus causing pain. This is often the result of bad posture and repetitive activities. There are many different potential causes for your head and neck pain, and it is very important to have a regulated health professional diagnose your pain and provide individualized treatment to address the root cause.

The neck is a highway for our nerves to our hands and fingers, and thus pinched nerves in the neck can be a common source of pain in these areas. Our chiropractors Dr. Ali and Dr. Monica are proficient in diagnosing your head and neck pain and can help you identify the root cause of your issue. These treatments may include: muscle release therapy, chiropractic adjustment, manual traction, McKenzie Therapy, medical acupuncture, and exercises.
